In 1989 Jay received two First Place awards at the first
two juried shows he entered: these were the 1989 Anna Maria Island
Festival of Fine Art, and a photography and painting exhibit at the
Art League of Manatee County. He repeated the first prize award at
the Anna Maria show the following year and since then many other
significant awards have followed.
Jay's work is often dark and
thought-provoking. His photographic abstracts reflect an evolving
insightful, true vision as well as a compassionate interpretation of
the human condition and that of all life forms. His style is such as
you might expect to see in a more metropolitan area which may seem at
odds with his love of nature and markedly simple lifestyle.
